An upcoming zine centered around sapphic interpretations of all forms of Barbie media!
What is a zine?
A zine is an anthology of works by various creators based on a central theme or topic. What is this zine about?
This zine is centered around sapphic relationships between characters in the animated Barbie movies and other media. Have you ever heard of “classics, but make it gay”? That, but Barbie.Who is organizing this zine?
Information about the organizers of this project can be found on the "Mods" page. What is the timeline for this zine?
Information about the current schedule of the zine can be found on the "Schedule" page. Will you allow NSFW content?
No. This zine will be PG-13 and contributors will be required to be 16+.Will AUs or non-movie content be allowed in the zine?
According to the results of our interest check, we will be allowing content based on various Barbie media, including the animated movies, dolls, Dreamhouse, and live-action movie. If it's Barbie, it's fair game! Can I collaborate with someone for the zine?
Yes, but you both must apply and be accepted separately. Collaborations between pairs will be decided upon later.Where will the profits of this zine go?
This zine is for charity and all profits will go to a charity the mods choose at a later date. How will contributors be compensated?
If sales go well, we also hope to compensate all contributors with a free physical copy of the zine. Merch artists will also receive a free copy of any merch they designed. At the very least, contributors will receive a free copy of the digital zine and the ability to purchase any additional items at production cost. Can I apply for more than one position?
Yes, but you will only be selected for one spot. How many people will be involved?
We are planning to decide this based on the results of the interest check. What will be the final zine requirements?
Artists will work on a fully finished piece completed to the standard expected for a portfolio piece, fully colored with rich background, with the exception of stylistic choices as approved by the mods. Artists must work in 300 dpi CMYK, and the size of the zine will be 5.5" x 8.5".
Writers will work on a complete stand-alone story within 2,000 words.
Mod Griff (Organizational mod)
Howdy there! I'm Griffin (or Griff for short) and I've loved most everything Barbie since I was a kid making my Barbie dolls kiss each other instead of Ken and being obsessed with The Princess and The Pauper and Barbie: Mermaidia. I've been a mod for a few different zines and projects now and I can't wait to work on this one as well!
Mod Ly (graphics + formatting mod)
Hello, I’m Ly, a long time Barbie enthusiast and five year zine mod. I knew something was up in Barbie and the Diamond Castle and therefore on a fully unrelated note borrowed the movie from Blockbuster every single week.
Mod Nightshade (Shipping Mod)
Hello! I’ve been a mod for several events, contributor and shipping mod for 6+ zines. I can’t wait to work with everyone and I look forward to this project!
Mod Zanna (Social Media mod)
Hi, I’m Zanna! I’ve modded a lot of zines over the last few years. I grew up adoring Barbie movies, especially Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus and I’m so happy to bring this project to you all!
